Home Remedy for Earaches

Experiencing an earache can be very disturbing and troublesome. Kids are more prone to this than adults. Since, earaches can occur suddenly, it is best to prepare yourself – especially if you’ve kids. This doesn’t mean that you need to buy or stock some ear medications to put in your first aid kit at home. There is an assortment of home remedies for earaches you can just find in your own kitchen.

Earaches occur when the Eustachian tubes get plugged. Some of the most common reasons for this include ear-nose-throat problems, excessive wax in the ear/s, infections, insects inside the ear, extreme pressure on the ear (can be from a bad fall or when someone hits you hard), pressure differences, constant exposure to loud sounds and even the common cold. It is also more common at nighttime than in the daytime.

If you’ve a baby, some of the telltale signs include tugging of the ears, crying, if he seems uneasy and not his usual self. In this condition, you can’t just run out of the house to buy ear medications. It may also take too long if you ask someone to buy one for you. Don’t fret, some of the best remedies for earaches may already be in the confines of your home.

Here are some of them:

Sesame oil & garlic – A teaspoon of sesame oil and a clove of garlic, heated and set aside to warm up is a good home remedy for earaches. All you need to do is to lie down on one side and put about 4 drops of this mixture on the open ear. Let it seep in for 10 minutes and repeat the procedure on your other ear.

Licorice & ghee – Slightly warm some licorice in ghee. Use the two to make a pastry mixture. Then, apply this externally on the aching ear. This is sure relief in a few minutes.

Mustard oil & radish – Chop a radish into tiny pieces and heat it together with mustard oil. Put the mixture in a bottle. Every time you experience earaches, just put 4 drops on each ear.

Onion juice – Extract the juice of an onion and heat it until it becomes warm. Put this in a bottle and 4 drops on the aching ear would do the trick.
